AUSTRALIA'S PREMIER RETAIL AWARDS GALA


The National Retail Awards recognise retail businesses and individuals across Australia and online that have demonstrated outstanding achievement and have made a significant contribution to the industry.

This years' awards are bigger than ever with a suite of new category and individual awards plus the all new People's Choice Award!

Please note the following change to this year's awards:

We received a high number of very impressive entries for this year's REST and Scentre Group Young Retailer of the Year awards. To allow for a more thorough and complete judging process, we have chosen to shortlist 15 finalists for 2017.

A further 10 submissions have been awarded highly commended entries and will also receive a complimentary ticket to the awards gala on September 27th.

As Australia's biggest and longest-running retail awards, the National Retail Awards are designed to create a benchmark and reflect the diversity and innovation of Australia's retail industry.

Recipients of these awards have the opportunity to:

CHAMPION AWARDS


Social Responsibility Champion
New this year, The Social Responsibility Champion Award recognises the commitment of a retailer to positive corporate citizenship. This may include improving diversity, gender equity, environmental awareness, sustainability, community involvement, active legal compliance or other means.

Customer Experience Champion 

The Customer Experience Champion Award is also new this year. This award recognises organisations that have a clear focus on customer service and have taken innovative steps to enhance the customer experience and journey

Innovation Champion 
The Innovation Champion Award recognises a retailer that embraces innovation and has successfully implemented a new, innovative strategy in the last 12 months, for example, through new technology, supply chain management, marketing, store concept, industry collaboration or by bringing together novel ideas.

People's Champion 
Previously Employer of the Year Award, the People Champion Award recognises a retailer who truly invests in their people. They demonstrate innovative employment practices that have not only attracted the right people to the business but have meant their people are happier and stay longer, contributing to the overall success of the business.

The winner from each Champion Award (along with winners from the Category Retailer of the Year Awards) will be considered for the 2017 Retailer of the Year Award.

INDIVIDUAL AWARDS


Outstanding Contribution to the Industry

The Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award recognises the efforts of an individual who, through their professional career or personal endeavours, has significantly advanced or contributed positively to the retail industry in Australia.

Franchisee of the Year

The Franchisee of the Year Award recognises an individual franchisee who sets an example of exceptional retail leadership. They own one or more franchise stores which deliver a great customer experience, employee satisfaction, and bottom-line results, and demonstrate a solid understanding of their business, the broader franchise group and the industry.

Store Manager of the Year

The Store Manager of the Year Award recognises an individual store manager who sets an example of exceptional retail leadership on the front line. They run a store (online or physical) which delivers a great customer experience, employee satisfaction, and bottom-line results, while demonstrating a solid understanding of their business and the industry.

Young Retailer of the Year

For over 40 years, the Young Retailer of the Year Award has recognised and rewarded exceptional young talent under 25 years in the retail and fast food industry. It provides a platform to test, recognise, inspire and coach our future leaders and to support the professional development of the best young talent in retail.

The 2017 Young Retailer of the Year will win a prize pool valued at over $15,000. The runner-up will receive a prize pool valued at $5000. Details of the prizes will be released shortly.

SUPREME AWARDS


The supreme awards are based on existing entrants from the above two award categories and do not require a separate submission.

2017 Retailer of the Year
The 19 winners from the Category Retailer of the Year and Champion awards will be judged against each other with one winner being crowned of 2017 Retailer of the Year.

 

2017 People’s Choice Retailer of the Year
Every business who entered the Category Retailer of the Year and Champion awards will automatically be in the running for 2017 People's Choice Retailer of the Year. This is judged by the public via an online voting portal which opens Monday 14 August.
